Region 5's U16 girls
team, Bring It,
captured third place at the Rancho Santa Margarita Summer Classic
this past weekend, June 14 & 15. The team from Fountain
Valley competed against club teams from throughout
Southern California and picked up a 1-0 win over the El Segundo Gunners
and a 2-2 tie with Ranch Santa Margarita. They also tied the tournament
champions, North County Untouchables, 1-1.
PLUS tryouts
have been set for June 23 and 24, 2008. The U12
Girls will be on tap at 5:30 pm on the 23rd with the U12
boys following at 6:30 pm. On the 24th the U14 Girls
will go at 5:30 pm and the U14 boys will follow that
up at 6:30 pm. Those interested in trying out for the teams should email
aysoplus@yahoo.com.

A couple of Region
5 teams brought home bronze medals at the
prestigious Top Gun Tournament over the Memorial Day
weekend. Both Bring It
and RazzMaTazz
finished in third place.
Bring
It, Region 5's U16 girls spring team captured the Area
K,Q & E combined championship. Bring It went 8-0 during
league play and outscored their opponents 38-2 during that span.
Region 5's U12 boys
team Blue Ice recently
won the Section 11 Championship in San Marcos. The
team finished first in Region 5's fall schedule with
a 9-0-1 record then went on to win all four of their games at the Area
K Championship and also at the section playoffs. They will
now take their undefeated record to the California State Championships
that will be held on April 5 in Bakersfield.
Region 5’s
U16 girls soccer team, Bring
It, got their spring season of to an early start by bringing
home a second place finish at the Colorado
River Invitational Soccer Tournament that was held this past
weekend in Bulhead City, Arizona.
Several Region
5 All-Star teams picked up medals over the weekend in the Area
K All-Star Championships. Our U14
boys team finished in 4th place while
our U12 boys team came in 2nd in their
division. Our U12 girls team also came in 2nd
place and our U10 boys
team finished 1st by defeating their opponents, 6-5,
in the championship game. Our U10 boys team has also
recently finished 2nd in the Anaheim Holiday
Classic and 3rd in the Hi 5 tournament.
Our U14 girls team came in 3rd place.
Also our U10 boys silver team came in 4th
place at the area championships.
Awards Night
for U10, U12 and U14 teams has been set for Friday, Jan. 18
at the Fountain
Valley Senior Center. Please see the Calendar
Page for times.
Spring Registration
for U8 and below will take place at Lamppost
Pizza (brookhurst & warner) on January 26
and February 9 from 12 - 3 pm. U10 and above is coach
driven. Those players will need to be selected and registered by their
coach.
Congratulations
to the Region 5 champions; in the U10 girls division
Lil Devils and in
the U10 boys it was Fire Storm.
In U12 girls it was Hail Storm
and Blue Ice in the
boys U12 division. Kickin' It
won the U14 girls championship while Those
Guys took the U14 boys title.
A couple of more
region teams picked up medals in the Area K & Q
combined U16/U19 play. Our U19 boys team finished third
while our U19 girls team, RazzMaTazz
finished the season in second place while finishing
the year undefeated with an 11-0-2 record.
Region 5’s
U16 girls soccer team, Heat,
wrapped up an undefeated season and won the Area
K championship this past weekend. Heat finished
the year with a 10-0-2 season record.

Make-up day has been scheduled for Sunday, November
11, 2007 at 1:30 pm at Paine
School in Garden Grove.
All U12
games at Cox Elementary School have been moved to Allen
School until further notice due to flooding on the U12
field at Cox.
All
games in Region 5 and Area K have
been postponed this weekend, Oct. 27 & 28 due to
the poor air quality from the fires.
Coaches, due to
the poor air quality because of the fires you should
consider canceling practice for the next couple of
days.
All U12
girls games with Region 1335 have been cancelled.
Sunday October
21st, 2007 at Cox Elementary school, Region 5 will be having
their make-up pictures. The hours are from 8am
– 8:30am, sharp. Photographers will be there ready to
shoot; they will also be packed-up and gone before 9AM., ‘get
there on time” Make-up pictures are for players and teams that
have missed Photo-day, we set this up to re-take any group or individual
pictures that turned out bad or never were taken. “Wear your uniform
and Bring your favorite ball and we’All see you their.”
Region 5
still has a limited amount of tickets available to the LA Galaxy
game on Sunday, Sept. 23. Join us as we help the Galaxy
celebrate AYSO Night. Tickets are available for only
$25 each. ($35 face value) Contact Diane
Tine if you are interested.
Region 5 will be
offering a Basic Coach Class on Saturday, August
25 from 9 am to 1 pm, lunch will be provided. The class will
take place at Cox Elementary School in Fountain Valley
and instructors from the UK International Soccer Camps
will be demonstrating coaching drills and activities. There is no cost
for the class but coaches should let their division directors know if
they are planning to attend.

Day for Region 5 has been set for September 8 at
Matsuda Middle School. This year's event will consist
of photographers, 4 different carnival games, Cotton Candy, Popcorn,
Snow cones, and even a DJ will spruce things up and get everyone in
a festive mood. A 3/1 combo slide jumpers along with a bounce house
will be in the park. The event will run from 8 am to 2:30 pm. Click
