Region 5's Under 14 Girls Spring Select Team won the Orange County
Cup held at UCI on May 22 & 23. RazzMatazz defeated Region 56
in the Championship game 1-0. The team from Fountain Valley allowed
only one goal during the entire tournament. going 4-0 with wins over
Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Glendale and Huntington Beach. Click

Several
Region 5 teams captured some hardware this weekend, May 15, as
the 2004 Area K Spring Select Season came to a close. In under
14 girls, RazzMaTazz, came out on top of their division. Finishing
the season undefeated, the team from Fountain Valley took claim to the
championship over a couple of Region
56 teams. In boys under 12 soccer the Region 5 team finished
in second place with a 7-1 record. Region 5 took home a third place
finish in the girls under 10 division and also finished third
in both the boys and girls under 16 divisions that competes in
the Orange County Spring League with Area's K, L, Q and Z. In the Area
K Recreation League the under 12 girls team, Blue Flames,
came in third place.

Four Region
5 spring teams will be challenging for Area K titles this Saturday May
15 as the 2004 Area K Spring Season comes to a close. In under 10
girls rec. division the Region 5 team is currently tied with Region
517 at 62 points and the two teams play each other at Vista
View Middle School at 10:30am to determine a champion. In the under
12 girls rec. division the Region 5 team is tied with Region 143
at 61 points. Region 5 will be playing at Cox
Elementary School at 6pm on Friday, May 14 against Region 117. In
the under 12 boys select division the Region 5 team is currently
on top with 67 points, however they have already concluded their season
and the second place team, Region 56 needs only two points in their
last game to over take the Region 5 team. In the under 14 girls select
division the Region 5 team, RazzMaTazz, is currently on top with
68 points and needs to defeat or tie Region 55 at 1pm at Vista
View Middle School to claim the area championship.

Soccer, Region 5's U14 girls spring select soccer team will be featured
on ESPN2 this Saturday, May 8, as Major League Soccer
youth spotlight team of the week. Every week Major League Soccer selects
a youth team from through out the nation for their "Youth Soccer
Spotlight". During halftime of this weeks game between the LA Galaxy
and Dallas Burn the team from Fountain Valley will be highlighted and
some of their accomplishments announced. Tune in to ESPN2 (channel 35
on Time Warner Cable) at 1pm for the game and make sure and watch the
halftime show.

Ron
Klinger was named the new Regional Commissioner for Region 5 at
their board meeting last Thursday, February 5. Special thanks goes out
to Dan Dehn for his many years of service to Region 5.
Congratulations
to the Purple People Eaters who defeated the Yellow Jaguars,
1-0, in a playoff game on Saturday, Dec. 6 to win the Region championship
in the Girls U10 division. Quicksilver wins the U10 Boys division.
Electric Storm captured the Girls U12 championship with their
2-1 win over Electric Shock. Tsunami wins the Boys U12
championship with their 1-0 win over Spitfire on Saturday. Pipeline
and Liquid Metal squared off on Saturday also with the Boys U14
title on the line. Pipeline came out on top with a 4-3 victory.
The Sea Turtles had the Girls U14 championship wrapped up several
weeks ago going undefeated in region play. All region champions will
be advancing to the Area K playoffs on Dec. 13-14 in Huntington Beach

Is This
A Joke, Fountain Valley's U16 girls team, won the Area K playoffs
on Sunday, Nov. 16 by defeating Huntington Beach, Region 117, 3-2 in
the championship game. They now advance to the Section 11 playoffs on
Nov. 22 & 23 at Marina High School in Huntington Beach. Should they
win their pool the Section 11 championship game is slated for 2:30 pm
on Sunday, Nov. 23 on field 2 at Marina High.

PLACES 2ND IN AYSO PLUS PLAYOFFS: RazzMaTazz, Fountain ValleyÕs
U14 girls APP, soccer team came up a little short on Sunday, falling
2-0 to a tough Rancho Santa Margarita team in the championship game
of the AYSO Plus playoffs. Fountain Valley had advanced to the championship
game with a 4-2 victory over Huntington Beach on Saturday and a 2-0
win over San Juan Capistrano on Sunday morning. In the championship
game Fountain Valley just missed on several scoring opportunities. Rancho
came into the game undefeated and has allowed only 2 goals in 14 games

5 will be hosting the Area K & L U14 APP (Plus) championships
this weekend, Nov. 15 & 16. The girls will be playing at
Anthony
and Vista
View, while the boys will be playing at Allen
and Vista
View. Razzmatazz, Fountain Valley's U 14 girls team, which
recently finished second in the regular season, will be playing at 8am
on Saturday and again at 12:30pm at Anthony. On Sunday they play at
10:30am at Vista View and will try to be in the Championship Game at
3pm also at Vista
