Region
5’s U16 girls soccer team, Bring
It, will be heading off to Hawaii on Sunday
to compete in the Hawaii Rainbow Soccer Tournament.
Bring It’s first game will be on Wednesday, July 4 against Aiea,
Hawaii. Region 5 also will have games against, Menifee, Diamond Head
and Mililani, HI. The Championships are scheduled for Sunday, July 8.

Region
5's U16 girls team, Bring It,
walked away with a first place finish at a club tournament
in Rancho Santa Margarita this past Father's Day weekend. The team from
Fountain Valley won all their games and outscored their
club opponents, 15-2, at the Rancho Santa Margarita Summer Classic.
Rage
was able to come away with a third place finish at
the Mission Viejo Classic that was held on June 9-10.
After dropping their first game, the U16 girls team from Fountain
Valley was able to win three straight to claim the bronze medal.
Bring
It took home third place at the Cypress
AYSO Invitational Memorial Day Tournament. The U16 girls team
from Region 5 finished the tournament with 3 wins,
2 ties and no losses but fell in a penalty kick shoot out to Culver
City to finish third.
Two
Region 5 U16 girls teams squared off in the
Championship Game of the Area K Spring Tournament
this past weekend. Rage
and Bring It both
finished off their pool play with perfect records to qualify for the
finals. This time it was Rage that was able to come
out on top with a 2-0 win.
A couple
of Region 5 teams placed at the recent Area
K Spring Championships. Our U14
boys team came in third place, while our
U16 girls team Bring It
finished second.
Region
5’s U16 girls soccer team, Bring
It, will be playing in the Area K, E and Q championship
on Saturday, May 5. The team from Fountain Valley finished
their season in first place and will be taking on a team from Los Alamitos
at 12:30 pm at Brethren
Christian School
in Huntington Beach.

AYSO
Soccer Camps will be coming to Region 5 this summer. From July
23 to 27, 2007 boys and girls from ages 4 to 16 can receive
instruction from professional coaches. The camp will be held at Cox
Elementary School, half day and full day sessions are available.

Region
5's U14 girls team, The Patriots,
came up one point short from advancing to the Section 11 Championship
game on Sunday, Feb. 18. The Patriots defeated Carlsbad
8-1 and San Clemente 2-1, but it was San Clemente who was able to advance
to the Championship game as The
Patriots needed to score just one more goal to win their
pool.

The Region
5 Board of Directors elected Gary Schutt as the new
Region 5 Commissioner on January 11. Gary will take
over as the commissioner on Feb.1 pending approval by AYSO National.
Region
5 Board of Directors elections have been set for Friday,
Jan. 26 at Lamppost
Pizza in Fountain Valley. Any person that has a child playing in
Region 5 is encouraged to go and vote. Region 5 currently
has several volunteer openings for anybody that wished to help out,
please contact Commissioner Ron
Klinger. The elections will begin at 7pm.

U10 boys will go at 6 pm, U10 girls at 6:30 pm, U12 boys at 7 pm, U12
girls at 7:30 pm, U14 boys go at 8 pm and the U14 girls are scheduled
for 8:30 pm. Please contact your coach or division director for more

All-Star
Teams - Practice days for Gillespie
Park
are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
Several
Region teams came away with some medals at this weekends Area
K Championships. Our U12 girls team Fever
lost in the championship game 1-0, while the U12 boys team, Dirty
Laundry, came in first place with a 6-1 win in the Championship
game that was held in Orange. Meanwhile Region 5 was
assured a champion in the U14 girls division as both our teams made
it to the championship game that was held at Vista View School. The
Patriots came out on top, 1-0, over Heffalumps.
Lauren Brose scored with less than three minutes remaining for the game
only score in a hard fought battle of two
outstanding teams. Good luck to the champions as they advance
to the Section 11 playoffs that are being held in San
Marcos in February.
Region
5 yearbooks are being distributed to the division directors and
they will be passing them out to the teams. (Coaches please contact
your division director to get you teams yearbooks) This year once again
every player in Region 5 will receive a yearbook.
Congratulations
to the Region 5 Fall Season Champions; In the girls
U10 division The Sharks defeated the Tidal
Waves, 4-3, in a playoff game. The Tidal Waves
had won the first half season while the Sharks came
in first during the second half of the season to set up the championship
game. In the U10 boys division it came down to the last game of the
season as both the Killer Bees and the Gladiators
came into the game with perfect 6-0 records. The Killer Bees
came out on top with a 3-2 win over the Gladiators.
In the U12 girls division Fever went undefeated to
capture the Region 5 Championship. Dirty
Laundry won a playoff game, 3-1, over the Hobos
to win the region title in the U12 boys division. The Heffalumps
came away with the U14 girls championship as they won their last game
of the season and finished just one point ahead of The Patriots.
Both teams advanced to the area playoffs as Region 5 was awarded a wild
card spot in the U14 girls division. In the U14 boys division The
Rebels were able to come away with the region title.Good luck
to all the region champions as they play in the Area K Championships
on Dec. 9 & 10.
Region 5
is looking for a new commissioner to lead the region.
The current commissioners (Ron Klinger) term expires in February of
2007 and we are looking at getting someone onboard soon so they can
start learning the ropes. Interested persons can email the search
committee with their name, any experience they might have,
and why they would want to be the commissioner of Region 5. Emails can

teams captured first place at the Surf City
Open this past Thanksgiving Day weekend. Dirty
Laundry won the U12 boys rec. title, while Fury
captured the U16 girls rec. division championship. Our U14
boys team finished second in their division
Two
Region 5 teams brought home silver medals
from the Area K Championships this past weekend! Fury
finished second in the U16 girls division on Sunday, Nov. 12 and RazzMaTazz
nearly defeated defending Section 11 Champions, Santa Ana, falling 3-2
in the Championship game of the U19 girls division. Our boys
U19 team won the Area K championship defeating
Region 143 on Nov. 14.
Two Region
5 teams will be playing in the Area K Championships
on Sunday, Nov. 12. Fury
won their pool in U16 girls and will be playing at 11 am at Harbour
View School in Huntington Beach, while RazzMaTazz,
U19 girls, also finished first in their pool and will be playing at
2 pm at Newland
School in Huntington Beach. A third region team, FV U-19,
will be playing for the U19 boys Area K title on Tuesday
night at 7pm at Harbour
View School
The November
Regional Board of Directors Meeting scheduled for Nov.
2 has been postponed until further notice.

Condolences
go out to the family of Pablo Cerda who was one of
the five firefighters that died battling the Esperanza Fire. Pablo
played soccer in Region 5 as a youngster. A trust fund
has been set up to help the families of the fallen firefighters:

The U16
and U19 Area K playoff schedules have been posted at

Region 5’s U16 boys team will be opening the playoffs on Saturday,
Nov. 4 at 9 am with a game against Region 177 at Anthony
School.
The U19 boys team will be following them playing at 11 am
against Region 144. In the U16 girls division Hubba Bubba
will be playing on Thursday night, Nov. 2 at Mile
Square Park
with a 7 pm game against Region 117. Fury,
who finished the regular season in first place, will be playing their
first game on Saturday also at Anthony
School
at 1 pm against a team to be determined. In the U19 girls division,
Bonesaw will be playing at Sunview
School on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 9 am against Region
55 while RazzMaTazz
will be traveling to Harbour
View School
to take on Region 143 at 9 am also.

Make-up day has been set for Sunday, November 12, 2006.
8:00 - 8:45 am in front of Cox Elementary School (17615 Los Jardines
East, Fountain Valley) Pictures are only taken for those players who
missed photo day, have damaged photo's, or are dissatisfied with their
pictures. Please bring your favorite ball, dress in your soccer uniform,
and bring old photos to be exchanged for better ones. AYSO-5 will re-take
your picture free of charge.
The location
for the Photo Day on Sunday, Oct. 8 has changed to
the front soccer field at Mile Square Park next to
the Boys & Girls Club. This is to accommodate a jumper and other
inflatable's. Hot dogs, donuts, drinks, and snow cones will also be
sold, so come out and stay for a while.
Region
5's U16 girls team, Fury, got an early start to their
season by capturing first place over the Labor Day
weekend while competing in the Fullerton Rangers Soccer Club
Tournament. Fury defeated all three of their
club opponents in pool play games to finish in first place. Click

Parent Meeting has been set for Monday, August 21 at
7:00 pm at the Green Valley Club House (north). Candy
Distribution will begin at 7:30 pm.
Region
5’s U19 girls soccer team, RazzMaTazz,
will be heading off to the AYSO National Games in Chicago
on Sunday, July 9. The games are scheduled to run from July 13 -16 with
more than 190 teams from throughout the nation competing. Updates during
their trip can be found at www.razzmatazzsoccer.com.
Players will be competing in a soccerfest on Wednesday, July 12 and
attend a special players event that evening. Fountain
Valley opens up pool play at 8 am on Thursday, July 14 against Kona,
HI. The finals are scheduled for Sunday, July 16 at 11am.
