AYSO 6U Youth Soccer
The 6U program is specifically developed to introduce soccer to children in a fun and safe environment. The program is setup to have a short practice once a week at a local park or school, followed by a Saturday game. There is no post season at this age level. 6U is Co-Ed for players 4 and 5 years of age.
Season Length | The fall season runs from August until the middle of November. Spring is February through May. |
Time Commitment | Practice approximately 45 minutes once a week and set by the coach. Games are played on Saturdays and last 32 minutes (4 quarters of 8 minutes) |
Equipment | Each player will be given a uniform which consists of a jersey, shorts, and socks. The player must provide soccer cleats and shin guards. A size 3 ball is optional. |
Certification Required | All volunteers must be registered AYSO Volunteers, and all coaches must be Safe Haven and Safe Sport certified.

Game Format | The game is played on a small field in a 3 v 3 or 4 v 4 format with no goalkeeper. 2 16-minute halves are played with player substitution every 7-8 minutes. Halftime break of 3 minutes. Teams switch sides after halftime. |
Team Draft | The teams are drafted with the intent of allowing the children to play with their friends and other children from their school. There are normally 8 players on each team. Please contact the Division Coordinator for requests. We do our best to accommodate teammate requests. |
