AYSO 14U Youth Soccer

The 14U program was developed to continue player development in a fun yet competitive environment. After the completion of the regular season, an invitational postseason tournament is played with the top teams receiving trophies.  The winner of the postseason tournament is eligible to move on to the area tournament in December. Players in division are 12 or 13 years old by the end of the year.

Season LengthThe regular season runs from August through November. Regional champion season continue to December. Spring is February through May.
Time CommitmentPractice a minimum of 90 minutes once or twice a week (depending on coach's schedule). Games are played on Saturday and within Area K (Fountain Valley/Huntington Beach). The game consists of two 35-minute halves.
EquipmentEach player will be given a uniform which consists of a jersey, shorts and socks. The player must provide soccer cleats and shin guards. Size 5 ball is optional.
Certification RequiredAll volunteers must be registered AYSO Volunteers, and all coaches must be Safe Haven and Safe Sport certified.

Game FormatThe game is played 11 vs. 11, under a modified FIFA rule system. Minimum 7 players per team rquired to start or continue a game. Game is played in 2 35-minute halves. Substitutions are done freely at the discretion of the referee within each half. There is a 5-7 minute halftime break.
Team DraftThe teams are formed with a draft that normally occurs in July. Coaches are provided player ratings which can be used for player selection. At the end of the season coaches submit player ratings. There are no more than 15 players on a team.
